CALL FOR PAPERS

The Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing, SIBGRAPI, will be held October 9-12, 2005, in Natal, RN, one of the most beautiful cities in Brazil. SIBGRAPI is the most important Brazilian meeting in Computer Graphics, Image Processing, and Computer Vision. Started in 1988 with the sponsorship of the Brazilian Computer Society, this will be its 18th edition. Proceedings of SIBGRAPI have been published by IEEE CS Press since 1997, and its acceptance rate is about 30% of submitted papers. We cordially invite you to participate by submitting your work in all areas of Computer Graphics, Image Processing and Computer Vision, including but not limited to the following topics:

AI in Computer Vision                     Graphics Hardware                             Non-Photorealistic Rendering

Animation and Simulation                Image Analysis                                     Pattern Recognition

Bioinformatics Imaging                    Image Compression                              Real-Time Imaging

Biometry                                         Image Filtering                                       Real-Time Rendering

Collaborative Virtual Reality            Image Registration                                Remote Sensing

Computational Geometry                Image Restoration                                Scientific Visualization

Computer Vision and Robotics       Image Retrieval                                     Simplification Techniques

Digital Video                                    Image Segmentation                             Surface Extraction

Digital Topology                              Image Synthesis                                   3D Imaging

Document Analysis                        Large Data Sets                                   Visibility Algorithms

Games                                            Mathematical Morphology                     Visual Data Mining

Geographical Databases                Medical Imaging and Visualization        Visual Learning

Geometric & Solid Modeling            Multimedia                                             Volumetric Rendering

Graphical Interfaces                      Multiresolution Techniques                   Applications

The best papers in Computer Graphics will be selected for a special issue in the journal Computer

Graphics Forum, the International Journal of Eurographics Association published by Blackwell. We are arranging for the best papers in Computer Vision and Image Processing also to be published in International Journals.

Contributions should be in one of the following categories:

·    Full Papers: scheduled as oral presentations and published in the Proceedings as two-column, 8-page papers, in English. Submission will be electronic. Proceedings will be published by IEEE CS Press.

·    Technical Posters: special session and published as two-column, 2-page papers, in English.

·    Tutorials: about classical or timely topics, from elementary to advanced, consisting of three to six hours of lectures with printed notes (20-30 pages), in Portuguese or English.

·    Workshop of Theses and Dissertations: PhD and MSc students may submit their ongoing work in English or Portuguese, to be evaluated for presentation. We expect this to be an unique opportunity for graduate students to receive important feedback on their work from the scientific community.

·    Workshop of Undergraduate Work: undergraduate students are encouraged to submit the results of their scientific works in English or Portuguese, to be evaluated for presentation.

·    Front Cover Images: generated by computer graphics or image processing techniques, to be printed on the front cover of the SIBGRAPI 2005 proceedings.

·    Video Festival: generated by computer graphics or digital video processing techniques to be presented in a special session.

The conference program will include keynote talks from:

- Daniel Cohen-Or (http://www.math.tau.ac.il/~dcor/)

- James Greenleaf (http://www.mayo.edu/ultrasound/)

- Rick Parent (http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~parent/)

- Antonio Oliveira (http://orion.lcg.ufrj.br/~oliveira/).
